D2L Technology Requirements

To complete an online degree program or take courses completely from your home computer, your computer system will need to meet some basic minimum requirements to be able to use D2L Brightspace, our online learning management system.

  1. You will need reliable access to a computer and Internet connection. Check the minimum technical requirement for your computer. (see below)
  2. Basic Internet and computer skills are required. This will includes accessing and navigating the Internet, basic word processing skills, and the ability to learn new technologies.
  3. Some courses may require advanced computer skills. Consider building your skills by taking an online introductory computer course.
  4. Minimum system-wide requirements are defined, but individual programs or courses may have special hardware or software needed.

Minimum Technical Requirements

Computer hardware and software requirements are determined based on the online program curriculum and course needs. Some programs or courses may have additional requirements.

Microsoft Windows:

  • Windows 7 or higher
  • 160 GB of hard disk space or larger
  • 4 GB RAM
  • Sound Card and Speakers
  • CD-RW/DVD Combo Drive drive
  • Ethernet Network required
  • Wireless Network required
  • Video card
  • USB Flash Drive
  • Strongly recommend 1GB+
  • Monitor display capable of 1024 x 768-pixel resolution

  • MacOS X or Lion
