Shane Fjerstad has joined 360 as an Assistant Director. Fjerstad’s primary role in 360 is to serve as Outreach Director for the Minnesota Advanced Manufacturing Partnership (MnAMP) Learn, Work, Earn project. His work includes promoting industry-recognized credentials, particularly in the areas of mechatronics, machining, and welding. Fjerstand shares, “I am excited to leverage my experience, education, and connections in industry to help others to pursue a career in manufacturing, a choice which has proven to be satisfying and rewarding for me.”
Fjerstad is familiar with several of 360’s partner colleges and building a career pathway. He earned a Diploma in Machine Tool Technology from Staples Technical College (now Central Lakes College) in 1995 and a Die Making A.A.S. degree from Ridgewater College in 2000. In 2005, Fjerstad graduated from Bemidji State University with a B.A.S. degree in Technology Management and a B.S. degree in Career and Technical Education. He is currently a student in the MBA program at BSU. Fjerstad also holds several certifications from the American Society for Quality and the American Society of Mechanical Engineers.
Fjerstad started his career as a precision machinist at Hutchinson Technology, Inc. (HTI), completing his Journeyman Tool-and-Die Maker apprenticeship through HTI and the Minnesota Department of Labor and Industry in 1998. Later, he worked for HTI in the roles of Development Support Technician and Tooling Supplier Engineer. Shane was employed by TEAM Industries in Bagley, MN from 2007 to 2014 serving as Senior Supplier Quality Engineer, a roll that involved frequent international travel to Asia, Europe, and Mexico. Most recently, Mr. Fjerstad served as Quality Manager at Daimler Trucks North America, Detroit Diesel Remanufacturing facility in Hibbing, MN
In his spare time, Mr. Fjerstad enjoys spending time with his family, including two young boys, outdoor activities, attending and performing at musical events, and traveling.
