Tour of Manufacturing reaches 4,200 community members & students

The survey results from the 2013 Dream It. Do It. Statewide Tour of Manufacturing are now available. Sixty-five manufacturers across the state opened their doors October 24-26 to offer an estimated 4,200 students and community members the opportunity to experience modern manufacturing.

Participants shared that they enjoyed learning about manufacturing careers, the manufacturing process and industry in their area. For many, the best part was seeing the buildings, equipment or robotics at a facility. They also reported they learned about products or components of manufacturing they were unaware of before taking a tour. There was also an increase of people having a positive perception of manufacturing careers, describing them as advanced, creative and exciting.

Overall, manufacturers also found the tour to be successful and valued the increased visibility and awareness of their industry and the chance to connect with students.
